Summertime monsoons are a real treat. The desert responds in the most amazing way. This past summer we had record breaking rains and with it came a late summer bloom that rivaled the desert in springtime. The ocotillo cactus came alive in August. I have several in my yard and while I have hummingbird feeders for my feathered friends year-round, they are no competition for the nectar found in the real thing.
