All Grown Up

Watercolor on cradled board - 10” x 40”

This dramatic succulent is very common in the southwest and west. An agave rosette grows very slowly and sends up a tall stem that produces a beautiful abundant set of blooms. Sadly, after the bloom, the agave dies. Luckily, new pups form around the original rosette, but the parent plant certainly goes out in style!
