Branch Manager

Watercolor on gallery wrapped canvas - 16" x 48”

Gambels quail are a favorite among Arizonans and visitors alike. Their behavior is impractical and silly. For instance, they would rather run than fly. And the chicks (also called cheepers) cross the desert in the most haphazard way. The mommas certainly have their hands full shepherding them around. The males are often seen perched atop a cactus, wall or other high vantage point “managing” the situation and warning the family of possible danger.
