Watercolor on gallery wrapped canvas - 20” x 20”

The prickly pear cactus is one of the most common in the Sonoran Desert. Most have yellow, orange or red blooms and are a welcome hit of color. This particular variety – the purple prickly pear – had dramatic light-pink to fuchsia blooms and the supporting pads have a bluish-purple tint to them. Not as prevalent, but certainly one of my favorites! This particular pad had all of its blooms and buds hanging from the side, rather than on top. Thought it made for an interesting composition.
