This dramatic scene depicts many of the things I love most about Arizona life. The sunsets are unparalleled. The iconic saguaros - only occurring naturally in the Sonoran Desert - are majestic sentinels that provide shelter for many species of wildlife. The profusion of wildflowers that will undoubtedly occur this winter because of the wealth of rain we have enjoyed this past year. And one of my favorites - the ocotillo - which often seems as if they are just “dead sticks” in the desert until they explode with life when the rains come.
