Part of my Wild October Instagram Painting Challenge Collection.

I was fortunate to have a cardinal nest in my backyard this summer and literally spent hours watching the nervous dad pace in my backyard while the mom guarded the eggs.  Sadly, an unknown predator reached the nest before the hatch.  This painting serves as a tribute to the devoted mom and dad – honoring their tireless vigil.  The topic was “things with wings”.
