The echinopsis cactus serves as the focal point for this piece. Sometimes referred to as Hedgehog or Easter Lily cactus, it is a plant that is densely covered with spines. The giant flowers (4-6 inches in size) are often multicolored with a beautiful translucent blend - often attention grabbing. Most blooms only last one day and they open at night. But it's common to have several buds on one plant developing at different rates; so a single plant can be in bloom for several days.
