Oriental Poppy

30″ x 22″, watercolor on paper

My mother loved gardening.  One of her proudest displays - the patch of Oriental Poppies in our front yard that survived even the most brutal of mid-west winters.  Probably my favorite flower to paint, this was my first attempt at capturing the translucent crepe-paper like petals.
